MARINE INFLATABLE LIFERAFTS
The ´SURAKSHA´ inflatable life rafts, designed to save the lives of a ship´s crew at sea, have capacities of 6, 10, 15, 20 or 25 people. The liferafts have double buoyancy chambers which provide full protection of all crew members even if one chamber is damaged (The floor is where the crew is accommodated. The canopy offers protection from weather conditions).
The "SURAKSHA" liferafts are constructed from synthetic PU / Rubber Coated Nylon Fabric. The liferaft is packed with all survival equipment (PACK ´A´ or PACK ´B´ as per the international convention for SOLAS) in a fiberglass container.
To operate, the end of the painter line is secured to a strong point of the ship and the packed life raft container is thrown to the water. The painter line comes out from the stowage and operates the inflation mechanism so that the life raft begins to inflate. Internal gas pressure breaks the rubber seal of the container and the life raft emerges to achieve full inflation on the surface.
The ´SURAKSHA´ inflatable life rafts are approved by the Government of India, Ministry of Surface Transport, Mercantile Marine Department (Mumbai).
AERONAUTICAL INFLATABLE LIFERAFT – Multi Seaters
The ´SURAKSHA´ aeronautical inflatable liferafts have been designed to save the lives of aircrew at sea. With capacities of 4, 6 and 10 people, the liferafts have a double buoyancy chamber which offers full protection to the crew even in the event of damage to one chamber.
´SURAKSHA´ aeronautical liferafts are constructed from light-weight PU / Two Ply Butyl Proof Nylon Fabric specifically designed for aeronautical liferafts. The liferaft is packed with all survival equipment as per the Directorate of Technical and Development Production (Air) Aeromedical Specification in a fabric valise.
The aeronautical inflatable life rafts are to be operated from a helicopter hovering at a height of between 40 to 60 feet. The operating / static line should be secured to a strong point of the aircraft near the exit and the valise is to be dropped. As the valise falls away, it operates the inflation mechanism so that the life raft begins to inflate. Internal gas pressure breaks the valise lacing and the life raft emerges to achieve full inflation on the surface.
AERONAUTICAL INFLATABLE LIFE RAFT – Single Seaters
Three SURAKSHA Aeronautical Life Rafts - (1) Single Seater (2) MLAS-1-OB (3) PSN-1 have been designed specifically for aircrew flying over sea after bailing / ejecting out from the air craft. These three (1) Single Seater (2) MLAS-1-OB (3) PSN-1 Aeronautical Inflatable Life Rafts provide necessary buoyancy, accommodation and protection to the survivors.
The Aeronautical Inflatable Liferafts are constructed from light weight PU / 2 Ply Butyl Proof Nylon Fabric specially designed for aeronautical life rafts by Beaufort Air Sea Equipment (UK). The life raft is packed with its all survival equipment as per the Directorate of Technical and Development Production (Air) Aeromedical specification.
The aeronautical inflatable life raft (1) Single Seater (2) MLAS-1-OB (3) PSN-1 are to be operated by pulling the operating cable in line of CO2 Cylinder with a slight jerk. The operating head plunger punctures the guide bush assembly fitted with ´D´ valve assembly and gas enters within seconds inflating the buoyancy chamber.
SURAKSHA aeronautical inflatable life rafts are approved by the Directorate of Technical Development & Production (Air), Government of India, New Delhi and type approved by the Centre for Military Airworthiness, Bangalore.
AERONAUTICAL INFLATABLE LIFE RAFT – Heliraft
The "SURAKSHA" Aeronautical Inflatable Reversible (Heliraft) Liferaft is oval in shape and has twin buoyancy chamber. The floor is mounted in the center of both buoyancy chamber. Therefore life raft can be used either side up i.e. it is reversible and does not require any survivor in the water to upright it. It has an automatic inflation system whereby the life raft does not require any survivor in the water to swim up to the packed life raft to operate it. Folded arch provides additional buoyancy for the survivors and also acts as a ‘fender’. The canopy can be erected on either side.
"SURAKSHA" Heliraft is a fully reversible life raft designed for search and rescue operations by fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft use, which can ply at height of 100 to 150 ft and forward speed of 80 to 150 knots. The life raft can be used either side up.
A smoke float may be dropped to determine wind direction. Following Sequence of events during drop are to be followed :
(1) Ensure that static line clip hook is secured to a strong point of the aircraft near exit.
(2) The Valise is pushed gently over board by dispatcher on count down direction of airmen e.g. 4, 3, 2, 1 now.

INFLATABLE SURVIVAL ARCTIC TENT
The ´SURAKSHA´ inflatable Survival Tent has been designed to safeguard Helicopter Crew, who is forced to make unscheduled landings, away from bases / habitation, in emergencies or adverse weather conditions.
The tent is manufactured from 2 ply butyl nylon fabric. It is a light weight, portable and quick inflation tent, capable of providing protection from gusty winds, blizzards, rain, elements of weather, and also from jungle elements like snakes, insects etc.
INFLATABLE BOATS
The SURAKSHA inflatable boats have been designed for a capacity of 8 to 12 people. They are used for the recovery of people falling or being swept overboard, the rescue of survivors from a marine disaster and the movement of injured or sick people.
They are manufactured from PU / Synthetic rubber coated nylon fabric. Each compartment of the boat is divided into five independent buoyancy chambers / compartments which allow it to maintain its performance even if one or two chambers / compartments get punctured.
Each chamber of the inflatable boat is to be manually inflated by using the bellows / foot pump till the relief valves blow off. The boats can be driven with 40/80 HP engine power or the two paddles provided.
SURAKSHA Inflatable Boats are designed as per Naval Specifications.
NAVAL – LIFE JACKET (INFLATED)
The Naval Inflatable Life Jacket has been designed / constructed as per Naval Specification. The Naval Life Jacket is designed for general issue to naval forces personnel in any geographical area. It is constructed from single or two ply rubberized nylon fabric.
The Life Jacket consists of an inflatable stole / body with head and aperture, a fabric pouch and a webbing waist–belt with a webbing lifting harness attached. The life jacket is completely housed in a fabric pouch supported by a waist belt. The naval life jacket is to be removed from the pouch, stripped and inflated through an oral inflation valve.
The Inflatable Naval Life Jacket has been approved by the Director of Quality Assurance (Naval) Ministry of Defence, New Delhi.
AVIATION LIFE SAVING JACKET (WAIST COAT) MK VI
The Life Saving Jacket (Waist Coat) is worn by aircrew while flying over sea for survival. The life saving jacket has been designed / manufactured as per the Directorate of Technical and Development Production (Air) Aero Med Specification No.35.
The jacket consists of waistcoat, inflatable stole with cylinder complete with operating head and aids to recognition. The waistcoats are made from cotton gabardine fabric and have three buttons with front closer. There is also an adjustable belt for additional flexibility. The inflatable stole is constructed from two-ply butyl proof nylon fabric.
The lifejacket, which has a buoyancy greater than 13.6 kgs has a positive self-righting capability with correct flotation characteristics.
The life saving jacket MK VI is fitted with 34 gms CO2 Cylinder and is screwed into an operating head, which is connected to the stole. The cylinder gas will enter into the stole within seconds of pulling the operating line / toggle.
AEROSTAT BALLOONS
Aerostat Balloons of 250,320, 2000 and 3200 cubic meter capacities have been fabricated, to be used as Surveillance platforms by Air force / Army, as also for protection against hostile air attacks on the forward airfields. It is manufactured from PU coated nylon fabric with RF heat sealing.
